The Sustainable Sequin Company

 Raw Materials

The Sustainable Sequin Company (TSSC) provides sequins with a recycled PET content to the fashion industry, supplying large fashion brands, independent designers and home sewers and crafters. The sequins are produced to order (preventing over production) in the UK.

TSSC produces a range of sequin shapes for hand stitching, on the spool for digital application and provides a bespoke cutting service so any shape can be cut as a sequin as the client requires.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: TSSC has just begun a project to develop non-oil based, industrially compostable sequins with University of Leeds, funded by Innovate UK (November 2020). The plan is to create a low impact shiny, clear sequin film that can be coloured with biodegradable pigments/dyes and will be machine washable, durable, biodegradable and very beautiful!
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: I would love to extend the current project with University of Leeds from prototype to small-scale production using a UK based supply chain. I would like to work with a Y+H bio-plastic sheet extruding company to commercialise the project. I would also be interested in working with any companies/individuals working on natural non-toxic dyes/pigments or digital sequin fabric production. I am happy to be involved in any customisation projects too – or assist in any projects as appropriate.
