  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: I am interested in learning about sustainability and circular economies, in which I hope to transfer their practices to my clients and manufacturing connections alike. As the UK recovers, it is my vision for 2021-22 to attend many industry events, network to widen my client base and gauge the feasibility of launching a knitwear brand. With travel restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, I have not been able to travel to Turkey to reconvene with my manufacturers. Thus, a main plan would be to locate accelerator or mentorship programmes, or access to grands or funding to be able to manufacture within in the UK. Technologies such as Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT offers seam-free knitwear with a tailored fit for less manpower at drastically reduced knitting times. Transferring some of the manufacturing operations to the UK would at least mitigate the burden of custom charges post-Brexit while preventing further carbon emissions expected after importing from Turkey.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: Accelerator, mentorship, funding opportunities, collaborating to contribute to research reports, hearing from the larger, conglomerate-level partners regarding their latest achievements.
