 Consultancy Services

I have a wealth of creative and cultural industries business experience. With a foot-hold firmly in fashion where I have over 30 years experience in management roles, I now also regularly venture into strategic business development advice for interiors, product design, artists, and cultural & tourism businesses, organisations, sole traders and charities.

I am a part-time Finance Director at London Fashion Week brand www.marquesalmeida.com , and am an experienced business mentor to over 100+ emerging designers in recent years across womenswear, menswear, accessories and ecommerce, notably : Craig Green, Erdem, JW Anderson, Simone Rocha, Mary Katrantzou, Christopher Raeburn, Feng Chen Wang, Liam Hodges, Molly Goddard, Grace Wales Bonner and Peter Pilotto.

I have very strong bid writing credentials, and have been successful is shaping and writing small, medium and large scale grant applications, primarily for business support projects and SME innovation projects primarily for the university sector, but also for SMEs; drawing on my holistic understanding of the fashion sector. My experience in innovation, enterprise and creative industries is regularly drawn on to judge entries for awards and funding through InnovateUK and previously for the European Commission, and I am also a judge on the New Business Award panel at Graduate Fashion Week.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: People describe me as having a nurturing character, honed over my many years of mentoring, and so developing skills and education are of great interest to me in my future work; as is sustainability where I have lifelong passions in the topic, and awareness that sustainability is not an option. During the pandemic like many people I have adapted to remote working from the countryside, in my case in Wiltshire and have discovered a growing fashion community here. This gives me hope for a longer term trend in the UK for the fashion sector to strengthen its foothold outside of the major cities that previously dominated the sector and steered it into certain business models upon which the cities depended. I’d like to be part of the movement that nurtures and supports a resilient rural + urban future hybrid for the sector.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: I am very interested in working on projects that develop knowhow and skills in the sector, particularly where fashion designers are involved, and possibly at the point where they need to engage with manufacturers. I have many years’ experience in this special and challenging space. I am also keen to work on projects that explore new business models. I enjoy the personal learning I experience through all the projects I choose to engage on, and so am open to hearing about other opportunities as well.
