Brooke Roberts Innovation Agency (BRIA)

 Design Technology Solutions

BRIA is a London-based materials innovation agency aiming to transform the way fashion is designed and manufactured. Our motivation is to drastically reduce textile waste in the supply chain, reduce manufacturing lead times and improve profitability while simultaneously achieving sustainability (for people, processes and planet).

We do this by conducting R&D in collaboration with fashion brands, manufacturers and universities to find solutions to the challenges listed above. We use textile design (our specific strength is in digital knitwear), materials science, 3D digital design, software development and Augmented Reality to create our solutions. 50% of our work is R&D to find new solutions and 50% is consultancy and collaborations. Our clients are based in the UK, Europe and Asia.

We have extensive experience in textile manufacturing and fashion design, as well as materials R&D and textile recycling solutions. Our recent shift of focus from physical to digital materials reflects the emerging opportunities for technology and digital design to circumvent physical design and save resources and time. We bring insights from the wider manufacturing sector from our collaborators in the RMG industry in Bangladesh, as well as our industry connections to Lectra, The Fashion Innovation Agency, CLO3D and digital design houses and pioneers in this sector, including The Fabricant.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: We want to bring a software solution to market that fills the current digital gap between 3D digital sampling software and CAD/CAM-driven garment manufacturing software and machinery. We want to digitalise the fashion design and creation process from end-to-end to reduce lead times, costs, waste and carbon emissions (from shipping physical samples) and the sampling burden on garment manufacturers. We want to be the premier provider of sustainable material and design solutions for the fashion industry that address the most urgent supply chain ‘fractures’. We are particularly interested in finding solutions that allow shared power and influence in the supply chain, recognising the huge input and expertise of garment manufacturers and building the capacity for living wages and fair conditions to be provided to all those working across the fashion supply chain.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: Digital design, textile and garment manufacturing. We are interested in finding design and manufacturing solutions that reduce waste, lead times and environmental impact of fashion design and manufacturing.
