Anne Oommen Lingerie

Design & Manufacturing (Lingerie and Intimates)

The business will provide the next generation of retail for lingerie. We will be providing custom made lingerie. It will be entirely custom (including the underwire if they choose it) – so no more bra sizes! The items can be available on the same day (while you wait). There will be a focus on a retail experience ideally using AR, and the intention is to offer a subscription service also.

Measuring breasts is notoriously challenging; if you measure with an existing bra on, or off – in either situation it would not provide a suitable measurement to make a bra. However, we have identified a process that can effectively do this, which has now been globally patented, and are keen to take this to the high street in a revolutionary new approach to retail. The hope is to also include AR technology.

It is well known that women struggle to find lingerie that fits them well; and as the main purpose of the item, it’s something that is well overdue addressing – in fact; there are several companies launching at the moment, that aim to assist fitting women in to mass produced items, but this still doesn’t really get to the root of the issue – that all women’s breasts are different, even on the same lady, one side may be a slightly different size to the other (asymmetrical breasts). In fact a well known statistic proclaims 8/10 women in the UK have this issue. It would also provide a more pleasant bra buying experience for those who have undergone breast surgery (mastectomies) as we can add extra padding where it is required.

I have been developing this idea for about 3 years and have gained a lot of experience on the future of retail; lingerie fit. I am also a very experienced change manager so can help with solutioning and problem solving.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: The long term aim is to revolutionise the lingerie industry by providing THE solution and go to store for lingerie; and then to ultimately take it global. In the immediate term, the plans are to do some more testing, validate it as much as possible before taking it to the market with a pop up store in central London and then bricks and mortar stores.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: Anything to do with innovation, fabric/ material innovation would be interesting!
