The core business of the company is the manufacture of thermally bonded polyester waddings and needled felts for the bedding, upholstery and quilting industries. We also process virgin wool, and we are the only company in the UK accredited by the Soil Association to process organic wool. During the past eight years wool production has widened to include quilted wool-filled products.

We believe that working in conjunction with the Future Fashion Factory project, we can pool our expertise with the expertise in marketing, analysis of the market requirements, etc., which we understand is available through the Universities of Huddersfield and Leeds. Working together to our respective strengths will, hopefully, project us more quickly to a position where we can verify the potential of the market and put the appropriate mechanisms in place to serve it effectively and efficiently and, most importantly, to manufacture the products in the UK.

• What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: We have doubled our business in the last five years and, as a privately owned family business, we want to continue the expansion using our textile knowledge and expertise but, at the same time, broadening the sales base into new markets which are compatible with our existing processes but will not be reliant on our existing customers for sales and service. If we achieve this, the company should have a stronger financial base on which to pursue further expansion. It will also permit us to continue investment in plant, machinery, and additional personnel.
• What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: The aim is to produce high-quality outer garments, e.g. gilets, car coats, quilted jackets, in both mens and ladies categories, providing hard-wearing garments, light, with good insulating properties from the benefit of natural wool fibre.
