Vicky Price

 Fashion & Textile Professionals

My strength of knowledge lies within textile print making and research, using hand craft techniques such as manual screen print, re-using digital print textile waste – acid and reactive dyes and landfill roll end coated fabrics. I print lengths of fabric using hand dye-colour-mixing and colour matching between Procion swatches, Pantone colours and devised colour recipes using waste large format printer cartridge dyes.

My expertise centres around material and print innovation from a creative viewpoint. I have an exceptional distinction in MA Fashion and Textile Design, a 2018 UK Textile Society bursary award for eco-driven print and in 2021 gained a merit in the Society of Dyers and Colourists FTCC course (Foundation in Textile Colouration Chemistry). I presented at the WOVEN in Practice conference in April 2021 with Huddersfield University.

I currently freelance in hand drawn fashion textiles for CocoBloom, London.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: My plans are to create a manual textile print studio that responds to the re-use of waste, creating high-end textile products for sale and in collaboration with fashion, dance, theatre, and architectural design partners. I have 10 years of teaching and technical support experience in higher education and would like to lecture in textiles and print(making) whilst innovating in novel textile print finishes and scoping the development for a quality brand based entirely on recreating waste digital products.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: Through Future Fashion Factory, I would aim to become involved in academic and industry collaborations to investigate my research further. This could be made possible by applying for funding and working alongside research-led projects. I am most productive in a practical workshop environment, backing my experimentation and innovation with wide-ranging academic reflective research. I would welcome the support from Future Fashion Factory that would enable future employment and wider networking within the textile and fashion industry.
