Tammam

 Design & Manufacturing (Apparel)

Tammam is a couture fashion label working with traditional craftsmanship and sustainability practices. As opposed to using sustainability as a marketing tool, the House Of Tammam has made sustainability intrinsic to our work since it launched in 2007. With a wealth of experience in sourcing and R&D for luxury sustainable fibres, including peace silks, luxury cottons and our recent innovation – shortlisted for a Drapers Sustainable Fashion Award  – eco tulle, Tammam is confident in its ability to develop luxury fashion textiles in a sustainable way.

The core Tammam business is offering bespoke, one of a kind, made to measure garments to our customers, created in our Bloomsbury Atelier. However, since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have pivoted slightly to offer sustainable ready to wear accessories with activist messaging via an ecommerce platform.

We have also developed the concept of ‘collaborative couture’, a way to offer a small piece of couture, with all the positives of buying into fashion, without any of the waste, or cost to humans or the environment. Tammam.co.uk/onedress

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Tammam is now looking to incorporate digital technologies into its offering to allow greater, and more simplified connection between the end customers of our products and the creators and artisans involved in the making. There are already so many clothes that exist in the world, but a huge number of artisans depend on making garments for survival. I hope to ignite a movement towards supporting artisans with work in couture projects, that pay them fairly to make small intricate textile artworks over mass produced bad quality fast fashion garments.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: I am keen to develop the collaborative couture concept, and interested in developing projects that support incorporation of digital technologies for supply chain transparency and customer engagement. Projects involving R&D of sustainable luxury materials, also Projects concerned with enhancing and mainstreaming sustainability practices and using fashion for good.
