BA Fashion Design (Graduation: July 2019)

I am very interested in looking at new design perspectives to enhance the sustainability of the fashion industry. I found the recent fashion forum talk by Dr Russell so fascinating, especially with the translation of hand feel of fabrics through a digital screen! I have experience in design, pattern cutting and sewing, and 18 months experience working as a garment technologist for an international outerwear supplier. Additionally, I have focussed my dissertation around transformable garments as a suggestion to counter fast fashion.

I am also one of the chosen students for the Hackathon with Burberry this April.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: My dream would be to work in luxury high end fashion, however I understand the competition is high! I adore the creativity behind these brands and the innovation of pieces developed. However being more realistic, on graduating I would probably be more likely to find work within a high street market brand, and am particularly interested in NEXT Graduate scheme and through gaining a ‘star card’ at the careers fair, will have the opportunity for my application to the design grad scheme to be fast tracked.
  • What type of experience are you hoping to gain through Future Fashion Factory?: I understand that this project had a focus on looking up speeding up the production process of the high-end luxury fashion, focused on production in the UK, the link with Burberry is also something really positive. I would hope to gain contacts and opportunities for internships, to help get my foot in the door for the luxury market, which is where I want to be eventually.
