Current Fashion Management and Marketing PhD student at University of Manchester (first year 2021/2022). PhD project: The future of sustainable manufacturing within the UK textiles and fashion industry – developing a system that ultimately values and empowers garment workers in UK manufacturing. EPSRC-funded project.

Previously completed Undergraduate degree in Fashion Buying and Merchandising w/Industrial Experience at UoM and a PGCert in Sociology at UoM too. Spent a year in an administrative and social responsibility-based internship via UoM’s graduate scheme. Spent placement year at English Fine Cottons.

Also have a Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Yoga. Other research interests / expertise / strengths besides the PhD focus include eco-psychology, ecological economics, mental health and neurodiverse inclusivity (on a day-to-day, long-term and workplace basis), slow fashion, ecolinguistics/environmental communications, sustainable consumption, health politics, fashion education and pedagogy and theory/history of yoga and how all of these are interlinked. Also a member of the Expert by Experience group with the Independent Mental Health Network (IMHN). Additionally, a member of the UoM Student Library Team and a Content Ambassador.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Stay in academia, public sector (NHS), charity/non-profit, NGOs, government work.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: Anything relating to manufacturing, design, communications and all three in collaboration with one another. Though manufacturing is the focus, particularly around valuing and empowering garment workers. Also interested in the design/manufacturing/education gaps and challenges as well as process and business models and frameworks.
