BA Fashion Design with Professional Placement (Graduation: 2024)

Whilst studying on the Fashion Design BA at Kingston, I have developed a keen interest into the future of fashion and sustainability. I am learning to situate my design work and ideas in a realistic and affordable way for my generation. Interning in the summer of my first year allowed me to see first-hand the craft, care and dedication that goes into making couture fashion.

Working alongside a creative team enabled me to understand and appreciate the process from design to making. I believe that affordable sustainability is the key to reaching my demographic by working with the materials that I already have at my disposal. In the past, the lack of understanding regarding our human actions towards people, planet and environment have gone unconsidered. Now, I feel that it is our responsibility to learn what was unknown before and actively move away from the obsolete throwaway culture that has dominated our society.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Looking toward the future, I hope to expand my skills and knowledge of fashion and sustainability. I plan to work and study abroad during my placement year with hopes to widen my cultural understanding of a new fashion landscape. Post degree, I would appreciate the opportunity to work within small and big brands to develop my personal position in the world. Later on, a chance to build my own brand would allow me to express and pass on a practice of ethical fashion which I hope will be inspirational to other designers.
  • What type of experience are you hoping to gain through Future Fashion Factory?: By being a student member of Future Fashion Factory, I hope to build a network of relationships and experience which can support and further my studies.
