M1LE

Design & Manufacturing (Outerwear / Sportswear)

Founded in London, M1LE is a performance-wear brand designed for the every-day urban commuter.

Through limited run, season-less collections M1LE is testing out – with an aim to eventually produce in-house – performance wear textiles applied to every-day items that are built to last and adapt to multiple environments. Future proofing our products is a core priority for our brand, ensuring that our products are genuinely sustainable and circular – researching, repurposing, renewing and recycling the textiles we use to eventually become as close to carbon-neutral as we can.

Bridging the gap between functional and aesthetic, while putting the customer at the forefront of our design process, means M1LE can operate as a studio or ‘work in progress lab’ – offering us the opportunity to knowledge share and collaborate with industry / academic partners for each collection.

In late 2021 M1LE launches its first product: a limited production run of technical commuter trousers which can be worn while cycling, walking, scootering, etc to the office and inside the boardroom.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: As part of our plan to future-proof our future collections and work towards being as carbon neutral as possible, we are aiming to bring as much as our production and supply chain as possible back to the UK where we are based. We hope that in the future consumers will build a wardrobe based on multi-purpose essential items that don’t go out of style – a wardrobe which M1LE hopes to supplement with long-lasting, premium items that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Our goal is to make long lasting technical clothing items that look and feel good. Season-less products built for style, comfort, and active living. While our first collection is a pair of menswear trousers, we see ourselves as a unisex brand. In the future, we hope to launch everyday items for everyone.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: We’d like to connect with industry and academic partners to collaborate on research into sourcing / producing sustainable performance wear textiles that are functional and utilitarian, with a look and feel associated with work wear textiles (e.g. Chinos, Suit trousers). Also we’d like to connect with suppliers and manufacturers based in the UK to work together on bringing our supply chain local. We would like to hear more about data-driven design when considering the data available regarding mass commuting and movement of workers – how they are commuting and where, and how we can build products that complement their movements.
