Software developers focussing for the last 5 years on building a solution to improve the traceability of a garment throughout the manufacturing process and through to retail.

The solution allows the manufacturer to monitor labour costs in real time also allowing the capability to move the workers to a performance related pay structure effectively moving them out of minimum wage. This in turn incentivises the workers resulting in increased throughput and turnover.

The clothing retailers benefit also by being provided with access to production progress details helping to minimise administration and improve confidence in the supply chain.

The project is very much focussed on providing traceability and related costs for the whole process with the emphasis being on extending this to cover the whole life cycle of the garment from raw materials through to recycling.

• What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: The plan in conjunction with the Fashion retailers is to introduce the solution into all of the suppliers providing details for all garments regardless of origin.
• What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: It is our aim to tie in the whole of the garment process from the raw materials through to eventual recycling. We are therefore keen to work with Future Fashion Factory in developing additional technology and software interfaces to enable benefits to be realised throughout all the manufacturing processes.
