British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM)
The British Furniture Manufacturers (BFM) is a trade association, which has represented the interests of the nation’s furniture industry since 1947. We have a rich history that includes a range of well-known members.
Our members are British furniture manufacturers who will be manufacturing furniture ‘in full’ and we also have an Associate Member category for companies that supply the manufacturers. This could be anything from foam, handles, plastics, equipment, fabric, etc. Anything that goes into furniture.
BFM also organises the London Fabric Show, which brings together mills and fabric manufacturers for upholstery, soft furnishing and curtains from all around the world. Buyers from the UK are invited to this event, which includes established and well-known brands. It is a trading platform, hence why it is invitation only.

- What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: Our members say that they are keen to meet and engage with new designers. They are constantly looking for something new and innovative! Some are looking to recruit employees whereas others might engage for bespoke projects, so there is variety.
- What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: We are interested in expanding the London Fabric Show, which is the ideal platform to engage with mills and buyers. We have allocated 21m2 for universities to showcase their students’ designs, and anything else that would be of interest in the textile/fabric sector. We also envisage that members will take part in the placement programme and/or recruit new talent from connections they make.
