Box & Hanger

 End of Life / Re-Manufacturing

We are a community events organisation, developed out of the Climate Venture Collective, working to increase the sustainability of school uniforms in the UK. We do this by partnering with schools, families and organisations to run pre-loved uniform events, where you can buy, swap and sell second hand uniforms. Alongside this, we run workshops to help show how to extend a uniform’s life, and provide services to mend and alter clothes where needed.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: We want to be running events across the UK in the next two years. We want to change attitudes. We want to influence attitudes around clothes to facilitate behaviour change; keeping better quality clothes that are more accessible to all, in use for longer. We want to improve equity. We want sustainable clothing to be accessible to all, in ways that suit people. We want to take less from the environment and people in the process, and provide a way to connect, share and grow communities. We want to change the present systems. We want to tackle the linear and prescriptive structure of the clothing market, ensuring less waste, accounting for cost, and implementing a fairer way of doing things.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: We want to connect with sustainable clothing lines, to help raise awareness and their outreach. We want to connect with those working on end of life use, particularly considering poly blended materials. We want to collaborate with circular economy-modelled organisations, trying new ways of changing clothes consumption. We want to learn from the community, to understand the fashion industry in a wider context. We want to meet those who might know partners, schools or communities that might need our help engaging their audiences, changing behaviour, or simply running one of our events.
