Bobbie and Joy
Bobbie & Joy started life as an offshoot of our existing business, The Knitting Goddess. We work with textiles to produce accessories and clothing. We dye our own yarn (much of which is produced in Yorkshire), print our own fabric, make our own knitted textiles and sew our garments and bags.
This gives us experience in combining many different processes, and as we’re used to working on small batches we’re well placed to look at one off projects and helping with sampling.
A key interest for us is sustainability and we look to approach this in two ways. We source materials looking at the ethics and impact of their production. Waste reduction is a core part of our production methods and we continue to look at ways to reduce material waste. We consider the end user as the second key to sustainability, and look to make items which will be cherished and kept.

- What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: We’re developing a range of knitted textiles which will be used for bags and accessories, and initially this is where we’ll focus. Looking forward we’re planning a range of simple garments in linen, wool and recycled fabrics. There’s also the possibility of producing kits for some of the garments so customers can make their own clothes.
- What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: We’re especially interested in working with locally manufactured yarns and textiles, so projects with Yorkshire manufacturing would be of special interest. As we’re working to reduce material waste from our production processes we’d welcome the chance to get involved in projects of that nature too.
