AMPHIBIO LTD is a startup bringing novel material technology to disrupt the watersport and outdoor wear industry. Founded by Royal College of Art and Imperial College London graduate Jun Kamei, the company is currently based in London, at the InnovationRCA incubator inside the Royal College of Art.

The company is currently developing a novel membrane technology with wide potential as an artificial gill with application in diving equipment and as a novel waterproof material for the watersport and outdoor industry.

Directly related to Future Fashion Factory, one of AMPHIBIO’s focus is to achieve a highly recyclable yet functional waterproof breathable textile by means of new materials and manufacturing processes.

The team at AMPHIBIO has good expertise in advanced polymer material science, additive manufacturing and human-centred design. The company can contribute to a Future Fashion Factory project where novel material meets additive manufacturing technology for innovative clothing and textile solutions.

  • What are your aspirations and plans for the future?: We would like to introduce new materials and method to create functional and fashionable garments using our proprietary technology and bring those to the market by working together with other UK manufacturers and UK brands in the textile industry.
  • What types of projects are you interested in working on through Future Fashion Factory?: We are interested in the data-driven manufacturing processes in textile, 3D knitting especially, sustainable solutions for functional textiles such as outdoor wear and watersports wear.
