Future Fashion Factory’s latest Innovation Funding Call is now open to Expressions of Interest.

Companies of all sizes and specialisms have the opportunity to apply for collaborative research and development (R&D) projects, bringing together researchers and industry partners to address challenges facing the UK fashion and textile industry.

Across the three previous funding calls. Future Fashion Factory has secured total investment of more than £2 million in R&D for the sector. Successful innovation projects have been led by fashion designers, manufacturers and technology providers and have focused on all aspects of the value chain.

To be eligible to apply, you will need to be a member of the Future Fashion Factory network. If you have not already joined, we will ask you to do so before submitting your Expression of Interest; it is free of charge and the process is simple, with many other benefits including member-only events, showcase and networking opportunities and more.

Call 4 opened on Monday and was officially launched at our Virtual Showcase on 15 April, where Programme Manager Sue Rainton gave a presentation introducing the main gateway criteria and offering more detail on how the grant funding works in practice.

If you have an innovative project idea, please contact Project Administrator Natasha Francis to book an initial call with our team, giving you the opportunity to talk through your project and identify potential partners and collaborators.

You will also need to ensure your project meets the gateway criteria for all projects:

  • Innovative
  • Significant and meaningful input from a partner based in Yorkshire & The Humber
  • Support from a researcher at the University of Leeds, University of Huddersfield, or Royal College of Art
  • Clear alignment with one of our Core Research Themes
  • An element of match-funding (which can include staff time, travel and other in-kind match)

After the call you will receive the Expression of Interest form to complete and submit through an online portal before 17.00 on 31 May 2021.

If you are invited to submit a Full Application, you will be assigned a member of the team who will work with you to complete this before it is received by our Investment Committee.
