Many commercial alternatives to leather use oil-based synthetic materials, making them difficult to recycle or biodegrade and contributing to global oil demand.

This project is creating a fully functional production line to manufacture mycelium leather (made from the roots of mushrooms) on an industrial scale. Using low-impact materials and adopting a circular economy model, the new model will make a natural plant-based alternative to leather readily accessible to global markets.
